BLOODY TRAMS

2014

TRAVERSE THEATRE COMPANY

A verbatim theatre production written by Joe Douglas and the people of Edinburgh

DIRECTOR
Joe Douglas

ABOUT
Based on verbatim responses from the people of Edinburgh, actors Nicola Roy and Johnathan Holt presented a hilarious and often moving account of the frustrations and hardships felt by so many affected by the construction and controversy of the Edinburgh Trams.

SOUNDTRACK INFO
Live vocals and piano, underscored throughout the play. Songs included my interpretation of Brother Can You Spare A Dime and a song specially written for the production, Where Is It? — a vocalised transcription of a homeless man's experience living on Edinburgh streets throughout and beyond the construction of the trams.

PERFORMANCE HISTORY
Bloody Trams was billed as a late-night cabaret as part of the Traverse Theatre's Edinburgh Fringe programme, August 2014.

“with David Paul Jones’s witty, eclectic score rippling along in support, this clever and well-made show-plus-discussion is always thought-provoking, and sometimes surprisingly beautiful”
