My soundtrack was composed over an 18-month period in my home studio in Edinburgh and in various locations in China — Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong — in collaboration with Beijing-based sound designer, Zhang Ziqian.
The soundworld is entirely digital and contemporary, fusing my Western sensibilities with traditional Chinese instrumentation and aesthetics.
PERFORMANCE HISTORY
The Green Snake premiered in March 2013 at the Hong Kong Arts Festival, followed by an extensive tour throughout China and worldwide from 2013-2014, including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Kennedy Center, Washington DC.
